This page contains all the most frequently-asked questions that we get from our customers. If your question is not answered here or in the built-in help, use the "Submit Bug or Support Request" option from MYStuff's help menu, or fill out this form.
I bought MYStuff, but when I try to double-click the license file, it opens in another program.
Sometimes the license file is interpreted by your email program as an XML file. If this happens, double-clicking the file will result in some other program — such as Final Cut Pro or Safari — attempting to open it. The solution is to save the license file to your Desktop and make sure the filename is "MYStuff_license.mystuff", not "MYStuff_license.mystuff.xml". With the file renamed, double-click it to register MYStuff.I bought MYStuff, but it's saying I pirated the software
A bug in one of the MYStuff releases caused some users' license files to be processed as invalid. Please make sure you're running MYStuff 1.3.4 or later. You can download the latest release here.If you just purchased MYStuff and are running the latest version, and you are getting this error, your license file may be corrupt. Please contact support for a replacement.
MYStuff is crashing at launch.
MYStuff 1.3.2 contained a bug that prevented it from launching on Mac OS X 10.5. This bug has been fixed as of MYStuff 1.3.3. You can download the latest release here.Where is my data saved?
MYStuff's application data is stored in your user folder. The full path is:/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/MYStuffThe database, all files, and your license key are all saved to this location.
How can I move the MYStuff database to another location?
This is our number one request. We're working on a built-in solution, but for now you can follow the following procedure. Please keep in mind that this is unsupported, and Minder Softworks is not responsible for any data loss or corruption. As of version 1.2.2, the database uses relative paths to store path info. What this means is that you can copy MYStuff's data to Dropbox or another location such as a server, then make a symlink to that folder. Here is an example, using Dropbox, of how to move the folder.
1) With MYStuff quit, copy the MYStuff folder from your Application Support folder to the Dropbox folder.
2) Launch Terminal, copy-paste this command in there, and press Return:
ln -s ~/Dropbox/MYStuff ~/Library/Application\ Support/This will create a Unix symlink to the Dropbox folder. From other machines where you want to access the shared data, before launching MYStuff, just enter the same Terminal command. If you are running MYStuff from two locations, ensure that one copy is quit before another launches, or else you may have database corruption problems.
How can I back up MYStuff to my iDisk automatically?
We recommend using Apple's free application, Backup, to handle backing up to your iDisk. All you have to do is add the MYStuff folder that's in Application Support to your backup plan. How many computers can I install MYStuff on with one license?
We don't believe in restrictive or phone-home licensing. We don't want to treat our customers like criminals. We believe that people are generally honest. You can install MYStuff on every computer you personally own, provided that only one copy is running at a time.Example 1: If you have a desktop at home, a desktop at work, and a laptop, one user license will cover them all.
Example 2: If you have two computers, and MYStuff will be running at the same time on both machines, we request that you purchase a second license.
Example 3: If you have a computer, and your parents have a computer, you will need two licenses.
